10-15 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!
Have you had the chance to drive by? Here are a couple recent updates.

This past week the concrete slab for the foundation was poured! You can see workers finishing the concrete on the HUB side of the building.
Look closely. Do you see the hole in the concrete? That's for the elevator pit.

This coming week they will let the concrete cure, while site excavation and backfill work continues. Maybe we will begin to see the building take shape next update!
We are pleased that work is on schedule.

We've got signage! This week Norm Teed helped mount a sign on the construction fence across the driveway at 140 Joyce Avenue.

Last week we mentioned that a group visited the site to assess the soil and the available space for gardens and landscaping, and to talk about permaculture. Here's John Rusell from Visions with representatives from Garden Cities, an organization the Hub will partner with to develop the green space, and Kelsey, who is working with John Howard Society to apply for various funding grants related to the Hub project.

JHS and Visions Location Annoucment

Our new Community Hub Partnership project was featured this morning on CBC Information Morning series on housing. We are grateful for this partnership with the John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick!
In the words of a song we love to sing, "My Love Colours Outside the Lines": exploring paths that few could ever find; and takes me (us) into places where we've never been before, and opens doors to worlds outside the lines." We are seeking to live our core value of "uncommon boldness" and daring to make a difference one act of kindness at a time.

Thank you Vanessa Blanch and CBC Radio for your series this week on housing and homelessness and our project to create community that makes a difference.
