Visions in the Cloud – Apr 23

For the Love of All Creatures

We bring our celebration of Earth Week to a close by sharing stories of the creatures we share a home with on this planet earth. Do you have a story about the role a pet has played in your life, or a spiritual moment experienced while watching your pet or an animal in the wild? What do creatures teach us about life and faith, about our Creator and living with respect in Creation?

Bring along a picture of your pet if you like!

Seeking: Who are you looking for?

On this Easter, who - or what - are you looking for? What kind of Jesus are you seeking?  What veils need to be lifted so your spirit can sing an Alleluia, and you can recognize the wonder of resurrection wherever it is occurring?

Join us as we celebrate the promise of new life at Easter. We will gather at the Table for Communion.

Seeking: Why have you forsaken me?

Join us for this contemplative service of reflection and prayer. Jesus' lament gives voice to the question asked by all those who have been forsaken, who've felt forsaken. Sitting with this question unveils many more questions: What do we do in the face of suffering? Can we sit in the silence of death and trust God is still there? Will we come alongside those who suffer and grieve?

Sorry, no attachments exist.

A Note About Our Good Friday Service

If you are joining us online, we invite you to bring a candle for worship, and a symbol like a stone or nail. These will be used in prayer.

If you do not have a stone or nail available, there will be a prayer gesture offered for you to use instead.

Seeking: Where are you headed?

Palm Sunday is the Story of Two Parades. One extravagant and expected.

Another, unconventional and unorthodox. Imagine you are in Jerusalem when Jesus enters on a donkey. Amid the chaos and commotion of that scene, where are you? In the midst of opposing forces which way will you go? Many of our weekly questions throughout the season so far have helped us prepare spiritually for Holy Week. Where are you headed?

Seeking: Can these bones live?

Sometimes too much bad news fills our news feed.
Sometimes it feels like suffering has a microphone.
Sometimes our own life feels worn down.
Do we believe new life can come?
Can we find hope when things are bleak?
Can we really trust in God’s resurrection?
Join us this Sunday as we continue seeking honest questions for a deeper faith. Together, let us seek the Hope that will stir in us and sustain us.

Seeking: Who sinned?

Uh oh! Sometimes the questions we ask are filled with assumptions and harmful theology. This week we pay attention to the kinds of questions we ask. We turn to a story when Jesus and the disciples encounter a blind man, and the disciples ask, "Teacher, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" (John 9:2)

The hard work of "seeking honest questions for deeper faith" often involves wrestling with our assumptions, our intent and unhelpful theology about why things happen.

Seeking: Will you Give me a Drink?

In the heat of midday, Jesus seeks out a Samaritan woman drawing water from a well. "Will you give me a drink?" (John 4:4-52).

Jesus' question is an invitation to us into a new way of life. This week we gather at the well, seeking to not simply quench thirst, but to find living waters that sustain us all.

Seeking: How do we Begin Again?

This week we delve deeper into our Lenten theme, “Seeking: honest questions for deeper faith”. Nicodemus comes to Jesus under the veil of night to ask him big questions. Jesus invites him to begin again, to learn a new way of knowing and living out his faith (John 3:1-17). What questions might Jesus be calling you to live into?
