10-30 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!
Have you had the chance to drive by? Here are a couple recent updates.

The Community Hub is more than a building! CHET (Community Hub Engagement Team) brings together representatives from community and not-for-profit organizations who are working with Visions and the John Howard Society to engage the community. (Working alongside CHET is Visions' New Ministry Engagement Team).

On Thursday afternoon (October 29th) the YWCA hosted a Halloween treats event at the Beechwood Community Centre, which serves the residents of the housing complex on Joyce Ave/Beechwood. These families are our neighbours, immediately south of the Community Hub building.

Treats for the children

Visions United, the John Howard Society and the YWCA provided treats and pumpkins for about 45 children. Université de Moncton, which is also participating with CHET, donated some UdeM 'swag' for the treat bags.  Lori Ann Burns represented Visions. Sophie Roy, YWCA Program facilitator at Beechwood and a rep on CHET, organized the event.

The children came to the centre dressed in Halloween costumes! Some were tall, some were small but all went home with a pumpkin to decorate/carve.

Thank you to everyone who donated Halloween treats, and to Lori Ann for helping.

This Community Hub project is a partnership between the John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick and Visions United Church.
