The Magi

After Jesus was born wise men from the East arrived in Jerusalem asking where they could find the newborn King of the Jews. “We observed a new star, a sign of his birth, and have come to worship him.” When they learned from King Herod’s scribes that it was in Bethlehem, they set out, and the same star led them on until it stopped over the place where the young child was. Overwhelmed with joy, they entered and found him with Mary his mother, knelt down and offered their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. - Matthew 2:1,2, 9-11

Les Sages

Des mages venant de l’Orient arrivèrent à Jérusalem demandant : Où est le roi des Juifs qui vient de naître ? Nous avons vu se lever son étoile, et nous sommes venus lui rendre hommage. Le roi Hérode convoqua tous les spécialistes de la Loi et leur demanda où devait naître le Messie.  Après avoir appris que c’était à Bethléem, les mages se mirent en route. L’étoile qu’ils avaient vue se lever les précédait. Elle parvint au-dessus de l’endroit où se trouvait le petit enfant et s’arrêta. Remplis de joie, les mages entrèrent dans la maison, virent l’enfant avec Marie, sa mère et, tombant à genoux, ils lui rendirent hommage. Puis ils lui offrirent en cadeau de l’or, de l’encens et de la myrrhe. - Matthieu 2:1,2, 9-11
