Headstart – November

Visions United supports Moncton Headstart each year with donations towards the School Supplies Drive ($600) and over $1200 towards Toyland (cash or gift cards appropriate for teenagers).

Moncton Headstart was founded in 1974 by Claudette and Doug Bradshaw as a modest child care program of the Moncton Boys and Girls Club. It has grown as an organization, focusing on early education, positive parenting programs, child & family literacy, food security and housing for families who struggle to meet the most basic of needs.

Headstart’s outreach projects include:

  • The “Lorne Preston Scholarships’ Drive”, funding scholarships for graduates and parents of Headstart
  • The “School Supplies Drive”, helping annually to fill over 1,000 backpacks with needed school items
  • “Coats for Kids”, depending on community, individual and business donations to distribute winter coats and other warm clothing items to those who need them.
  • “Toyland”, providing NEW toys, gift cards and personal items for children of all ages, to help families, no matter their circumstances, to enjoy a happy Holiday Season.

Headstart is located at the corner of Mapleton and Mountain Roads.

Inclusion Advocacy SENB

This Association was initially formed in 1984 and was incorporated in 1987 as the Greater Moncton Association for Community Living.

In 2016 it was re-branded as Inclusion Advocacy SENB.

The purpose of the Association is to ensure that appropriate supports are in place for people with an intellectual disability to live, learn, work and participate, as valued contributing members, in their own communities.

Some of the services offered are education, individual and family support, workshops, training, public awareness and fund raising.

The Association depends on community fundraisers.

With this in mind, Visions United, from the Visions Aid fund, has recently donated $300.00 to Inclusion Advocacy SENB.

We wish them all the best in their work with families in South-East New Brunswick.
