JHS and Visions Location Annoucment

Our new Community Hub Partnership project was featured this morning on CBC Information Morning series on housing. We are grateful for this partnership with the John Howard Society of Southeastern New Brunswick!
In the words of a song we love to sing, "My Love Colours Outside the Lines": exploring paths that few could ever find; and takes me (us) into places where we've never been before, and opens doors to worlds outside the lines." We are seeking to live our core value of "uncommon boldness" and daring to make a difference one act of kindness at a time.

Thank you Vanessa Blanch and CBC Radio for your series this week on housing and homelessness and our project to create community that makes a difference.

2019 Climate Strike

Thousands of New Brunswickers of all ages took to the streets in climate strikes Friday.

The strikes, meant to draw government attention to a climate crisis, were inspired by a movement called #FridaysForFuture, started by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.

She started missing classes on Fridays in August 2018 to protest outside the Swedish parliament.

Here are some of the members ofVisions who attended the climate strikes in Moncton.

2019 Vision’s Pride

Members of Visions United were out with other United Churches in Moncton's Pride Parade. This is a great event and everyone had a wonderful time walking down Main Street.

Coldest Night of the Year – February

On February 23, six members of Visions walked in the “Coldest Night of the Year” fund raiser. $645.00 was donated by various members of the congregation towards this project, supporting the work of Youth Impact Jeunesse.

The funds will go towards assisting nearly 500 at-risk and homeless youth in the Moncton area with clothing, a place to shower, a roof over their heads and a warm bed.

Christmas Cards and Calendars – January

For several years Visions United has given appropriate Christmas cards and calendars , donated at their Christmas Party, to inmates at the Springhill Institution. 360 cards, prepared by congregation members, and 67 calendars were donated in December, 2018. There are plans to continue this outreach program in 2019.

Mission & Service – December

The work of the United Church of Canada across the country and around the world is funded by the Mission and Service (M&S) Fund. ... It also gives us a collective voice in advocating change, justice, and peace, whether through the Canadian government or in work with our ecumenical partners.

Mission & Service (M&S) - "Gifts with Vision" is a giving catalogue from the United Church of Canada.  It provides an opportunity to support M&S by making donations, in a family or friends name, to a specified ministry or program.

Visions United had a 2018 M&S objective of $18,500.

Thanks to the generosity of our congregation we surpassed that for a total of $20,732.

We can accomplish more together than we ever can alone. The people of the United Church pool their gifts in the Mission and Service Fund (M&S). This fund is used for our national and global mission with partners, our justice and peace advocacy, and our efforts to care for the environment.
