Word for the Coming Week: HOSPITALITY

We will use this word to reflect on as we walk, run or roll through our week.

Some words may inspire you with exciting new insights while others may disturb your thinking or challenge your beliefs. Sometimes you will love or take comfort in what you are hearing, while other times you may feel discomfort or resistance. Pay attention to all as this is part of your journey.

The Pas - Learn some History

Are We There Yet?

This week's journey picks up where we left off outside of Canora, SK.  Backtracking a bit we head NORTH this week up route 9 through the towns of Endeavor, Bertwell, Hudson Bay and Mountain Cabin.    From there we pick up route 289 to The Pas (located at the confluence of the Pasquia River and the Saskatchewan River) and now we are in MANITOBA.

Next is further north to Flin Flon (I always liked that name) on route 10.  Turning around there we follow route 39 to its end where it turns into route 6.  We follow route 6 until it ends in Gillam.  That's literally the end of the road, so we hop on a boat to the coast along the Nelson River where we stop again at Port Nelson at the mouth of HUDSON BAY.

It really amazes me how few ROADS there are in Northern Manitoba.

  1. Week 9- with a total of 13,516 , that is amazing congratulation everyone! This morning I worshipped at Knox United Church in Brandon. A service of music based on Canadian song writers in More Voices and Voices United. They sang many of the songs we enjoy and he focused on the word WONDER which was one of our words. So hospitality began there and after worship I email them our story of the Cross Canada Pandemic Pilgrimage. Maybe they might send a greeting, I invited them to view our site.
May I invite you to share your opinion of this walk with comment on what you enjoyed! I loved the pictures and the excitement of the announcement of the total KM every week.
Many thanks to Terry’s dedication ‘preparing the site every weekend’. It takes time and talent so a great big thank you Terry!

  2. I walked this morning at 6:30, there was a lovely cool breeze and it was so enjoyable! Close to home a VON care giver was coming out of a elderly couples yard. She stopped to say hello and I offered her masks. This was my act of “hospitality”. She must have made a call because I received an email asking if I had solid blue masks for men. So now I am at my sewing machine doing a special order. Feels good to help others.

  3. Good morning, I feel that Fort Nelson is our destination this week, this community has been struck by fires, floods and feuds anyone would break a community. The people there must have a strong spirits to continue living in such a place. Their population is decreasing and housing is shrinking as well. Sounds like where I live however the hospitality is wonderful and everyone feels welcome.

I slept in and it was very warm at 8:00 so my walk was exhausting. Stay safe and keep drinking water, wearing your mask, keep 6 ft apart and know you are loved. Pam

  5. Finally rain, the pavement was wet this morning and every flower , tree and blade of grass was wearing raindrops. The air feels so fresh and it is so much cooler this morning. The sky looks like more rain, here’s hoping. Pam
