Here is the promised update of progress on inside construction.

Look at that view into the Great Room/Multipurpose Room from the second floor!  And speaking of the second floor, here is a view of the offices for various organizations.

You can see the footings for the interior walls. Everything is ready for the concrete over-pour for the second story floor of the hub, happening this week!

These are cold winter days for construction work! .

We won't see a lot of dramatic changes on the outside of the building now that windows are in and the outside is insulated. But take a look at the firewall now: notice the difference? The concrete has been covered over with insulation and wrap.

Most work is happening inside these days. We are saving the pictures of the inside for next week's update. Stay tuned for some great photo shots!

This picture is of the interior of the Multi-purpose/Great Room where Visions will hold our Spirit Gatherings. Notice the steel beams supporting the higher ceiling. You can also see the bank of double windows along the front wall, facing south, which will provide the room with lots of natural light. The passive heat from this room is integrated into the heating system for the entire building.

Brian Affleck visited the site this week and took these pictures. Brian will be installing the audio-visual system. He met with the electrician, as well as the company installing the technology infrastructure, to confirm plans. This coming week Netco Electric will install and pull all the wiring and cabling needed for these projects as they do the electrical rough-in.

Thank you, Brian, for the sneak peak!

01-14 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!
Have you had the chance to drive by? Here are a couple recent updates.

It's a new year and construction continues on the Community Hub building, 140 Joyce Ave, to ensure the building is weather-tight for inside construction.

Roofing on the apartment side is completed. Windows have been installed. Tyvek wrap complete, and strapping ready for installation of siding.

Construction is a bit further behind on the Hub side as there were earlier delays waiting for special trusses to arrive to accommodate the cathedral ceiling and roof line over the multi-purpose/Great Room. Shingling began this week. Maybe our next update will show the windows installed! Stay tuned.

Lots of progress on the building this week in spite of the weather.

This week the roof on the apartment side is being shingled.  Framing in on the second floor continues on the hub side.

It has been exciting watching the construction progress especially these past few weeks. Today was especially chilly for the workers at close to -10 degrees before wind chill! The harsh cold didn't stop them from singing while they worked on the second story. What a joyous sound!

Check out the photos to see how the apartment side of the building has the roof framed.  You can see that the Hub side's second floor is now framed.

What a difference a week makes!

Wood framing of the first floor is well underway. Last week our photos showed the structural steel beams and foundation. This week you can see the concrete firewall, which separates the hub side from the apartments. The apartment side is boarded in; framing on the hub side will soon be complete. Next step? Over pour for the second floor.

Visions recently received an updated timeline for the Hub Construction which we are sharing with you.
