Pam’s Masks

Pam really liked this picture of the masks she made around her sewing machine.

These were the ones she made for the children at her friend's school in Kenya.

She sewed over 2020 masks since the pandemic began

11-24 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!

What a difference a week makes!

Wood framing of the first floor is well underway. Last week our photos showed the structural steel beams and foundation. This week you can see the concrete firewall, which separates the hub side from the apartments. The apartment side is boarded in; framing on the hub side will soon be complete. Next step? Over pour for the second floor.

Visions recently received an updated timeline for the Hub Construction which we are sharing with you.

The Gospel is On the Move!

"Acts" Now - Stories of Making Church Outside a Building

The gospel is 'preached' - 'Good News' happens - when we come alongside someone wildly different from us. Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch: a story of transformation, inclusion, and love 'colouring outside the lines'. We bring to a close 'Act One' of our theme from the Book of Acts.

11-18 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!
Have you had the chance to drive by? Here are a couple recent updates.

On Sunday a group from Visions known as our New Ministry Engagement Team did a site visit and a drive-tour of this area of Moncton to discover the various neighbourhoods.
The team includes Lori Ann Burns, Joan Hawkes, Megan Smith-Landry, Justin Landry and Peter Lightfoot.
Justin Landry is a data scientist, so he is helping us better understand the demographic study prepared for Visions last year. Knowing who is our 'neighbour' helps us communicate and plan programs and outreach.

The Story of Stephen: Serving the Gospel with Persistence and Courage"

"Acts" Now - Stories of Making Church Outside a Building

We learn about the ministry of diakonia - serving the gospel with persistence and courage. You are invited to bring a stone as you come to worship. Stones can be used to build up or destroy. They can mark a path forward - like stepping stones - or they can be cast in harm, like a weapon. The story of Stephen challenges us to consider the call of faith, even in troubling times, even in times when the way is uncertain.

10-30 Community Hub Update

The construction site at 140 Joyce Avenue continues to be a busy place!
Have you had the chance to drive by? Here are a couple recent updates.

The Community Hub is more than a building! CHET (Community Hub Engagement Team) brings together representatives from community and not-for-profit organizations who are working with Visions and the John Howard Society to engage the community. (Working alongside CHET is Visions' New Ministry Engagement Team).

On Thursday afternoon (October 29th) the YWCA hosted a Halloween treats event at the Beechwood Community Centre, which serves the residents of the housing complex on Joyce Ave/Beechwood. These families are our neighbours, immediately south of the Community Hub building.

Volunteers

Treats for the children

Visions United, the John Howard Society and the YWCA provided treats and pumpkins for about 45 children. Université de Moncton, which is also participating with CHET, donated some UdeM 'swag' for the treat bags.  Lori Ann Burns represented Visions. Sophie Roy, YWCA Program facilitator at Beechwood and a rep on CHET, organized the event.

The children came to the centre dressed in Halloween costumes! Some were tall, some were small but all went home with a pumpkin to decorate/carve.

Thank you to everyone who donated Halloween treats, and to Lori Ann for helping.
